Five Free Fantasy eBooks Released After 2000

Although there is a wealth of classic fantasy books available for free online as ebooks, this doesn’t mean that you don’t have contemporary options available too. There are numerous authors who are writing epic fantasy sagas that span dozens of books, which can make it daunting to choose where to start. Fortunately, some of these authors have also released the first title in their series as free ebooks, so you can delve in without having to spend a penny. If you have exhausted your reading list of classic fantasy ebooks or simply want to try something new for a change of pace, any of the following free fantasy ebooks could be a good starting point. They have all been released after 2000 and serve as introductions to their respective series of fantasy books.

World Unseen: Book 1 of the Seventh World Trilogy

by Rachel Starr Thomson

World Unseen is the first book in the Seventh World Trilogy by author Rachel Starr Thomson. It is a Christian fantasy novel, but can be enjoyed by any readers who enjoy a good tale of light versus dark. The protagonist of the tale, Maggie Sheffield, finds herself on a quest to deliver some important information to a scholar, but not everyone wants her to succeed. It is a fast paced tale that is worth your time if you are a fan of authors like C.S. Lewis.

Delver Magic : Sanctum’s Beach

by Jeff Inlo

If you are looking for a standard fantasy series that features all the Tolkien races, such as elves, humans and dwarves, then check out Delver Magic: Sanctum’s Beach by Jeff Inlo. While it has a similar feel to the Lord of The Rings titles, Inlo also introduces some new races, such as the Delvers and Algors. He also uses a world where magic is returning as the setting for his tale, which makes for plenty of interesting scenarios.

Eaglethorpe Buxton and the Elven Princess

by Wesley Allison

The fantasy genre can take itself very seriously at times, so if you are in search of something more lighthearted that features plenty of humor, then Wesley Allison has you covered with Eaglethorpe Buxton and the Elven Princess. As far as fantasy books go, it is also quite short, which makes for a quick, but entertaining read. The story itself is “told” by Eaglethorpe Buxton, a self-proclaimed famed adventurer, but it becomes clear very early on that he might not be the most honest storyteller.

Wild-Born: Psionic Pentalogy Book 1

by Adrian Howell

Wild-Born is the first book in the “Psionic Pentalogy” and is the story of Adrian Howell, which is also the name of the author. Adrian, the protagonist and not the author that is, is thirteen years old, but has the power to manipulate his environment. Initially, he is unaware of his own power, but as he begins to experiment he quickly discovers what he is really capable of doing. Unfortunately, wherever there are those with great powers, there are also those who seek to capture or kill them. Wild Born is an urban fantasy instead of the traditional swords and sorcery, but it is fast paced and told from a unique first person perspective.

Tribe: The Red Hand - Tribe Series Book 1

Tribe: The Red Hand is a young adult fantasy novel that is set in a dystopian world. The reason for the world falling into ruin is something called the Red Fever and what was left of humanity after its ravages are now just squabbling tribes. None of this matters to Kestrel Stoneheart, the protagonist of the tale, as she only has one wish; to become a “Red Hand” and take her place as one of the elite warriors of her tribe. Of course, destiny has more in store for her than that. If you like your fantasy books filled with action, then Tribe: The Red Hand won’t disappoint.
