Mike Posner took to Twitter today and randomly replied to some lucky fans. Someone asked, “When are you releasing a new single?” Mike simply answered with, “January.”

So, there you have it! The first single is coming out in Jan from Mike’s forthcoming album Sky High. I’ve been told by a pretty good source a while back that the single will be “Top of the World” featuring his buddy, rapper Big Sean.

No official word yet on when Mike’s new album is releasing. My best guess is March 2013, but we should hear about the official date really soon. Stay tuned…

After Reebok linked up with Michigan born music artist, Mike Posner for its “It Takes A Lot To Make A Classic” short video installments over the last few months, it comes as no surprise that the duo align for the inaugural collaborative release of the Mike Posner for Reebok Classic RealFlex Foot Locker Exclusive launch. In conjunction with Reebok Classics’ technologically driven running sneaker, the RealFlex, Posner was in attendance at London’s Shoreditch House yesterday to unveil the special edition runners that will be a Foot Locker Europe exclusive. Further info for the limited footwear capsule can be found through Foot Locker, where an exclusive Mike Posner for Reebok Classic track is also available for download.

It’s a special remix of his new upcoming single, “Top of the World.” It’s not the song in it’s entirety. Matter of fact, this download is titled “Tapada World” (Posner 2nd Verse). It contains only the chorus and his 2nd verse, with no Big Sean feature. I’ve heard that the full single, featuring Big Sean, should be dropping sometime this month. Stay tuned for that release…

Big Sean explains the concept behind the record, which will be featured on Posner’s album Sky High.

Big Sean has revealed that Mike Posner’s new single will be titled “Top of the World” and that he is featured on the Diplo-produced track.

During an interview with Elitaste, the G.O.O.D. Music rapper explained that the track represents his and Posner’s climb to the top and reflects on their humble beginnings.

“Much love to my brother Mike Posner, we about to drop that ‘Top of the World’ record produced by the legendary Diplo. I personally like the record because it’s the realest shit ever,” he said. “We talking about coming up, we talking about how it was years ago before we had any record deals and we was in his mom’s basement writing these records. Y’all don’t understand, we was in a little busted ass basement coming up with melodies for ‘Cooler Than Me,’ all the songs that we did before. Just us talking about where we was going to be and to see it all start happening, it’s one of the most craziest things in life. When you in the pursuit of happiness and shit come, that shit is like, unreal. So I feel like the record, ‘Top of the World,’ embodies that feeling. It’s some fun shit too, at the same time.”

“Top of the World” by Mike Posner featuring Big Sean and produced by Diplo is the new upcoming 2nd single off of Mike’s Sky High album. Album is due out later this year.

Here’s a snippet of “Top of the World” by Mike Posner that’s unfinished, without Big Sean’s verse, and was pieced together from his YouTube videos. You’ll notice the background noise. This is just to give you an idea of what Mike’s next single will sound like, supposedly. For all I know, the beat and lyrics could’ve totally been changed by now. I know the new single is produced by Diplo, and I’m unsure if that’s reflected at all in this audio snippet.

Big Sean talks to Mando Fresko from Power 106 about Mike Posner’s new upcoming single that he’s on, “Top of the World,” which is produced by Diplo. He also talks about the collab mixtape with Mike Posner, a project they’ve been trying to get a chance to do for 1.5 years. They’ve been so busy with their solo albums taking off, touring and doing other projects, that they’ve had to put it on hold for a little while longer. They do plan on releasing that project together, but no telling if that will happen in 2012 or in 2013.
